Potential data security incident at AFTS, Inc.Silver Lake Water and Sewer District is aware and reviewing information related to security/data incident at our Utility Billing Vendor, Automatic Funds Transfer Services, Inc. (AFTS). The District contracts with AFTS to print invoices and process payments. AFTS's network servers were compromised and encrypted by ransomware sometime between the evening of February 3 and the morning of February 4, 2021. The District is in contact with AFTS to determine the extent of the breach and if any of the District's customer information was compromised. The information provided to AFTS by the District is limited to a customer's District account number, service address, name, and balance due. The District does not provide any customer's bank or credit/debit account information to AFTS. Customers are encouraged to monitor their payment accounts for unusual activity and report anything suspicious to their bank right away.
