District Office Closure

The District office remains closed to in-person customer service in accordance with the State of Washington's phased reopening guidelines. Appointments can be scheduled for contractors, customers, developers and others on a case by case basis. Potential data security incident at AFTS, Inc.

Silver Lake Water and Sewer District is aware and reviewing information related to security/data incident at our Utility Billing Vendor, Automatic Funds Transfer Services, Inc. (AFTS). The District contracts with AFTS to print invoices and process payments. AFTS's network servers were compromised and encrypted by ransomware sometime between the evening of February 3 and the morning of February 4, 2021.

The District is in contact with AFTS to determine the extent of the breach and if any of the District's customer information was compromised.

The information provided to AFTS by the District is limited to a customer's District account number, service address, name, and balance due. The District does not provide any customer's bank or credit/debit account information to AFTS. Customers are encouraged to monitor their payment accounts for unusual activity and report anything suspicious to their bank right away.

Warning: Scammers Are Actively Targeting Washington Residents

The District has recently received several reports from customers of scammers targeting District customers by text and telephone calls. The next meeting will be held on Thursday, April 22nd at 5:30 PM.

The public may attend and comment in person or via telephonic access; telephonic access is encouraged. In person attendees will be required to submit to a health screening, wear a CDC approved face covering and observe social distancing guidelines.
